On a guided boat trip, we explore the waterways surrounding Petkeljärvi National Park, including Petkeljärvi and Valkiajärvi. Along the way, we might see ospreys on their nests or fishing, the American beaver, and the national park's emblem bird, the Black-throated Loon, swimming. We will also see how our eastern border zone is marked in the middle of the lake, along which one could theoretically reach Russia, but we will remain firmly on the Finnish side. During the trip, the guide will tell us, for example, how the Ice Age has shaped the ridge landscapes, about the history and special features of the area.
