Café Manta - at Möhkö Ironworks

Möhkön Manta and Koitereen Helmi were two historic, identical vessels that served as logging cabins and residential barges.

Möhkön Manta, which still serves visitors as a summer café, offers a unique opportunity to experience and sense the historic atmosphere of a logging cabin. Café Manta is idyllically located along the Möhkönkoski rapids, and its surroundings exude the history of the atmospheric Möhkö ironworks. Visitors can enjoy the café's offerings while immersing themselves in the rich history of the area and imagining what life might have been like on these barges or at the ironworks in decades past. Such places are cultural treasures that preserve and honor Finland's past.

We are closed on Midsummer Eve. Spring and autumn opening hours in May, September, and October may vary, and we will announce these and any other exceptional opening hours separately. We recommend checking current information before your visit to ensure we are open just when you plan to visit.

Prepare for a culinary delight

Manta's pike burger is a superhero for savory cravings! In our kitchen, burgers are always made fresh, so relax and take a moment. You can choose between a regular or gluten-free toasted bun for your burger or if rye tempts you, rye bread is the perfect choice. At the heart of the burger, we tuck in lettuce, a local pike patty made with a secret recipe, Manta's magical mayonnaise sauce, and pickled red onion. The pike burger is a refreshing alternative to traditional burgers, and its mild flavor makes it suitable for all taste buds.

In the summer of 2026, Petkeljärvi National Park will turn 70 years old, and this will be celebrated with various events and offers.

Campfire hut

The hiking center's Campfire hut is available for rent for private events from September to the end of April for your small hiking group, small celebrations, or meeting and training events. The hut cannot be reserved for private events from early May to the end of August when the risk of forest fire is evident, and when the Campfire hut, including Keltasilmä lean-to shelter in the Petkeljärvi area, is the only permitted open fire pit.

Starting from 50€/hour. For those who have booked other paid ordered services or accommodation, starting from 25€/hour. Petkeljärvi Lakeside Sauna is famous for its gentle steam.
