4. Start of the rental period and collection of equipment

The equipment is always handed over intact and ready for use.

The renter must arrive to collect the equipment related to the rented equipment, such as kayaking/life jackets, etc. ½ hour before the start of the rental period.

Example: The renter has made an online reservation for a canoe for the period 10 am-2 pm. The renter must arrive at the Petkeljärvi Hiking Center information desk at 9:30 a.m. to check whether they have paid for their reservation, review the safety instructions, and hand over the rental equipment. Lateness must be reported immediately. If the rental time is booked for 10:00-14:00 and the renter does not arrive until 12:00, their rental time will end at 14:00 in any case, and the rent is paid for four hours.

5. Use of equipment

Canoeing and rowing are done at your own risk and swimming skills are essential. When paddling/rowing, you must wear a kayaking or life jacket and other safety equipment if necessary.
The canoeing equipment is not suitable for whitewater rafting.

Cycling is done at your own risk. The renter must have prior experience in mountain biking if they intend to cycle on hiking and trekking routes that have not been designed with mountain biking in mind. When cycling, a helmet and a high-visibility vest must be worn.

The renter is obliged to take care of the rented equipment as a careful person would take care of his own, and undertakes to exercise special care and caution.

The renter is not allowed to make any adjustments to the equipment (except for adjusting the height of the bicycle saddle according to the instructions provided).

The renter undertakes to return the equipment in the same condition as it was when it was rented and, if necessary, to compensate for any damage, defects and missing parts. The renter of equipment that breaks during the rental is obliged to compensate for the repair costs (new part + replacement work). If the rental equipment is completely destroyed or lost, the deductible is the recommended price of the corresponding product.

The renter is obliged to immediately report any defects in the equipment. The renter is responsible for complying with transport and safety regulations when using and transporting the equipment.
The renter may not rent or otherwise transfer the equipment.
The condition of the equipment will be checked upon return.
The equipment may not be left in a public area without security.

The renter rents and uses the equipment at his own risk and must take care of his own valid insurance, i.e. Petkeljärvi Center is not responsible for illness, injury, damage to or loss of personal belongings. The renter releases Petkeljärvi Center from all liability for damage caused to the renter or other persons.

6. End of rental period and return of equipment

The equipment is left at a pre-agreed time and place. The lessee undertakes to return the equipment in the same condition as when it was rented and, if necessary, to compensate for any damage, defects and missing parts.

Example: The rental period made via online booking ends at 2 pm, i.e. by 2 pm the equipment must be returned in a clean, clean and maintained condition in such a way that it can be rented again without any cleaning or maintenance measures.

If restoring the equipment to a usable condition requires cleaning and maintenance measures, the lessee may be charged for the reasonable costs of the required measures.
If the equipment has not been returned at the end of the rental period and no agreement has been reached with the lessor to extend the rental period and the lessor cannot be contacted, the authorities will be notified.

7. Lessor's obligations

The lessor must hand over the equipment to the lessee in working order at the agreed time and place.
In addition, the lessor is obliged to provide the lessee with instructions on how to use the equipment (however, instructions on how to use the equipment do not mean guided paddling).

8. The lessee's actions in cases of errors, damage and theft

The lessee must immediately notify the lessor of any errors in the equipment or of any damage or theft that has occurred to the equipment. Theft and significant personal injury must be reported to the lessor and the police without delay.

9. Return of equipment before or after the agreed rental period

If the lessee returns the equipment before the agreed rental period ends, the rent is determined in accordance with the previously agreed rental period.

If the lessee returns the equipment after the agreed rental period ends (this was agreed before the end of the rental period, e.g. by telephone), the rent is determined in accordance with the actual rental period.

If the equipment is returned much later than agreed and the next lessee's reservation is cancelled, the lessee may be obliged to compensate the lessor for the price of this rental as well.

10. Termination of the agreement

The lessor has the right to terminate this agreement during the rental period if it becomes apparent that the lessee is in material breach of this agreement, the lessee is unable to handle the equipment appropriately, or the lessor believes that the lessee's actions are not safe.

If the lessor terminates the rental agreement, the lessee is obliged to return the equipment to the lessor without delay. If the agreement is terminated, the lessee is obliged to pay the equipment rent for the completed rental period and any other costs incurred.

Valid until further notice.
