Kuikka tour 6.5 km

The starting point of the trail is in the yard of the Petkeljärvi hiking center. The trail ends at the same place.
From the hiking center yard, you first follow the road until a path enters the forest at the sauna building. The trail goes around Kokkolahti, after which it is possible to deviate from the trail 2 km to Korkeasärkä. The trail to Korkeasärkä is one-way, meaning the return trip is along the same path.
After Kokkolahti, the trail continues along the ridge between Savulampi and Syväjärvi towards Tuomipuro. The trail intersects with the Taitajan taival trail at Ruunulami. The nature trail continues directly towards Pientä Joutenjärvi. From the raven caches, you reach the Mustalampi bog along short sections. After crossing the road to Petkeljärvi, the trail descends to the clear-water Kuikkalammi, where a keen eye can see beaver work sites.
After Kuikkalammi, the trail rises again to a ridge, on the eastern side of which is a vascular meadow that floods in spring, where winter fodder was once mown for cattle. The rest of the journey is along a pine forest, where traces of old forest fires are clearly visible in the trees.

The Kuikka trail takes you through the best landscapes of Petkeljärvi National Park. In addition to the magnificent ridge landscapes, the sights include a luhtan meadow, a rare traditional environment today. The meadow is still maintained by mowing.

Recommended direction of travel is clockwise.
No camping. Camping at the hiking center at the starting point of the trail.
No winter maintenance
No toilet. Toilet near the hiking center parking lot at the starting point of the trail.
Remember to bring a trash bag. There are no trash cans on the trail. Bring a trash bag and take your trash with you.
