Overnight stay in Petkeljärvi National Park

Please note that in the Petkeljärvi National Park area, overnight stays are only permitted in places marked for that purpose. In other words, car parking spaces are not intended for overnight stays, and you are not allowed to stay in tents or hammocks anywhere other than in areas marked for this purpose. Our sensitive ridge nature is to thank.

The main building of the hiking center has its own accommodation wing with 10 simple hostel-style bedrooms. Guests staying in the accommodation wing have access to a fully equipped kitchen and living room for shared use. Pets are also welcome in some of the rooms. 9 of the rooms are similar, each with 2 bunk beds, i.e. beds for 4 people, and one more spacious room with a narrow (140cm) double bed, a bunk bed and a few sofa beds. The beds have mattresses, blankets and pillows, but no sheets. Toilets and showers are located in the hallway, shared by all guests.

The park ranger's hut is located about three kilometers from the hiking center along Petkeljärventie. The hut has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room, beds for six people. A traditional lakeside sauna heated with wood (no shower), water for washing is collected by bucket from the Pienen Kuikka pond. A traditional outdoor toilet is in the yard building. The yard building also has a separate summer room for four people. The beds have mattresses, blankets and pillows, no sheets.

Motorhomes, tents and hammocks:  Depending on the situation and the size of the vehicles, 7-13 electrified camping pitches and 5-10 non-electric camping pitches. Tent and hammock sites, depending on the situation, 15-20 places in total. The camping fee includes the use of the camp kitchen (dishwashing and cooking facilities), the campfire hut (campfire site), toilets and showers, filling of drinking water and emptying of the chemical toilet. In June, July and August, there is also a public sauna shift in the main building's electric saunas.
