Kuikan kierros 6.5 km

The starting point of the route is in the yard of Petkeljärvi Hiking Center. The route ends at the same place.
From the yard of the hiking center, first follow the road until a path branches off into the forest at the sauna building. The path circles Kokkolahti, after which it is possible to deviate 2 km to Korkeasärkkä from the route. The route to Korkeasärkkä is one-way, meaning the return journey follows the same path.
After Kokkolahti, the path proceeds along the ridge between Savulampi and Syväjärvi towards Tuomipuro. The path intersects with the Taitajan taival route at Ruunulampi. The nature trail continues directly towards Pieni Joutenjärvi. From the depths of the backwoods, the path leads along duckboards to Mustalampi swamp. After crossing the Petkeljärvi road, the path descends to the clear-watered Kuikkalampi, where keen-eyed visitors may spot beaver workings.
After Kuikkalampi, the path again ascends to a ridge, to the east of which is a boggy meadow that floods in spring, and from which winter fodder for cattle was once mown. The rest of the journey follows a pine heath, where traces of old forest fires are clearly visible on the trees.

The Kuikan kierros route takes you through the best landscapes of Petkeljärvi National Park. In addition to stunning ridge landscapes, attractions include a flood meadow, a traditional environment that is now rare. The meadow is still maintained by mowing.

Recommended direction: clockwise.
No camping facilities. Camping available at the hiking center, which is the starting point of the route.
No winter maintenance
No toilet. Toilet available near the hiking center's parking lot at the starting point of the route.
Remember a litter bag. There are no waste bins along the route. Bring a litter bag and take your rubbish with you.
